Keeping children safe is our highest priority and incorporates a wide range of responsibility and duties from child protection to health and safety.

All staff, governors and volunteers work hard to ensure that our school provides a safe, caring, positive and stimulating environment for all pupils. This includes a duty to promote the social, physical and moral development of each individual child. regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability.

The school understands the responsibilities set out under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002  and under the DfE statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment in education 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to work together with other agencies to ensure that the appropriate arrangements exist within our school to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering harm. Our school procedures for safeguarding children are in line with those of the Southend, Essex and Thurrock ('SET') Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures, the Essex Safeguarding Children Board (www.ecsb.co.uk) and with those of the Essex Local Authority.

All  staff receive safeguarding training annually and any necessary training throughout the school year.  All staff, governors and regular volunteers are DBS checked.

The Headteacher is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and in his absence this role is assumed by our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads , all have undertaken appropriate training for the role.

The Governor responsible for Safeguarding is Mrs Claire Godden.

Please refer to our Child Protection Policy for further information, which can be found under the Policies and Procedures Tab.
